Pirkanmaa

Pirkanmaa is a province of Finland, located in the historical provinces of Satakunta and Häme. On 31 December 2024, its population was 545,503. The province accounts for just over nine percent of the population of Finland. Pirkanmaa has a total area of ​​15,549.56 square kilometres. The land area is 13,248.71 square kilometres (4.1% of Finland's land area) and the freshwater area is 2,300.85 square kilometres (5.9% of Finland's freshwater area). The freshwater area accounts for approximately 14 percent of the province's total area, which is significantly above the Finnish average. The population density is well over twice the Finnish average. Most of its population is concentrated in the central Tampere area.
