South Ostrobothnia
Southern Ostrobothnia is a province located in Western Finland. Southern Ostrobothnia is the largest of the three Ostrobothnian provinces in terms of population and area. Among the provinces of Finland, Southern Ostrobothnia is the ninth largest in terms of population. Southern Ostrobothnia borders Ostrobothnia to the west, Central Ostrobothnia to the north, Central Finland to the east, and Pirkanmaa and Satakunta to the south. Seinäjoki is the most populous city in Southern Ostrobothnia and the 16th largest city in Finland by population. The next largest municipalities in Southern Ostrobothnia are Kurikka, Kauhava, Lapua, and Kauhajoki. After Seinäjoki, most of the municipalities in Southern Ostrobothnia are classified as rural municipalities, although some of them have city names. Southern Ostrobothnia is the only modern province in Finland that does not have a single so-called old town.
