Central Ostrobothnia
Central Ostrobothnia is a province in Western Finland on the shores of the Sea of Bothnia. Its neighboring provinces are Ostrobothnia, North Ostrobothnia, Central Finland and South Ostrobothnia. Ostrobothnia, South Ostrobothnia and Central Ostrobothnia are collectively known as the Ostrobothnian provinces. The province has an area of 6,462.93 km², of which 5,019.98 km² are land areas, 199.60 km² are inland waters and 1,243.35 km² are sea areas. The largest municipality by area is Kokkola. Of the municipalities in Central Ostrobothnia, Kokkola has the most sea areas and Lestijärvi has the most inland waters. In terms of both population and total area, including sea areas, Central Ostrobothnia is the smallest province in mainland Finland and the second smallest in Finland after Åland. However, if we calculate land area alone, Kymenlaakso is smaller than Central Ostrobothnia.
