Middle-Finland

Central Finland is one of the 19 regions of Finland. It is the fifth most populous region in Finland. Its regional center and largest city is Jyväskylä. Other cities in Central Finland include Jämsä, Keuruu, Saarijärvi, Viitasaari and Äänekoski. The regional governing body of the region is the Central Finland League. The Central Finland Province, which had an area almost the same as the province, existed from 1960 to 1997. The capital of the province was Jyväskylä. After the 1997 provincial reform, the province was part of the Western Finland Province until the provinces of Finland were abolished. In parliamentary elections, Central Finland forms its own electoral district.
